The Synagogue
I always loved the clang of the streetcar and often rode it just for fun. One time I went from my parent's house to the synagogue at a streetcar stop in the next town. At the four corners of the intersection were the synagogue, a diner with blue-checked tablecloths, a Persian Rug Store and Chinese Buffet. I climbed off the trolley, walked cautiously over the tracks and headed toward the temple steps.
Inside it was empty, being a weekday. I was alone in the sanctuary, so sang.
